This kit turns your existing LJ 8000, 8100, or 8150 into a MultiFunction Printer (MFP)—With this user-installable upgrade for HP LaserJet 8000, 8100 and 8150 Series printers, you get valuable new features that enhance productivity. It gives you the ability to print, copy, and convert hardcopy documents into digital formats, and then send them through e-mail, using just one device.

The C4166A and C4166B versions can both upgrade the LJ 8000 and 8100 series printers, but only the C4166B will upgrade the LJ 8150 Series. Both kits contain the same elements, but there is a difference in the CDs included and in the instruction manuals. The main difference between upgrading the 8000/8100 models and the 8150 is that the 8000 and 8100 both require installation of a firmware upgrade DIMM included in the kits, while the 8150 already has the necessary firmware for MFP onboard, and so it does not require a new DIMM to be installed.
