More Information for New Catalog UsersIntroductionThe 600 series DeskJets and DeskWriters print crisp black and beautiful color, using plain paper drop-on-demand thermal inkjet technology. Traditionally, DeskJets have run on Windows and MS-DOS systems and the DeskWriters are for the Macintosh. While this is still true with the 600 series, you can now get kits for some of these DeskJets, notably the DeskJet 610CL, 697C, and 690C, and run them with the iMac and other USB PowerMacs too!
All these printers come equipped with black and color ink cartridges so you don't have to swap cartridges to switch printing modes. You will get fabulous results even on the inexpensive plain paper you use every day. In fact, they all print on a wide variety of media and paper types and sizes, including labels, banners, and envelopes, from plain to premium paper, and on transparencies as well. HP Resolution Enhancement technology (REt) delivers the sharpest blacks, and HP ColorSmart adjusts settings automatically for optimum color.
Many of the 600 series DeskJets and the DeskWriter 694C have the additional option of the HP Photo Cartridge and HP's PhotoSmart technology and Photo Enhancement Resolution Technology (PhotoREt) with original color layering technology. Print on HP Photo Paper and get real photographic prints in gorgeous true-to-life color.
A unique member of the DeskJet 600 series is the 670TV. It is black in color and is intended primarly to print from Internet terminals, such as WebTV. It will print e-mail (text) at about 2.5 pages per minute and Web pages (text and graphics) at about 0.5 pages per minute. The DeskJet 670TV includes exclusive HP SmartFocus technology, which boosts the sharpness and clarity of Web page prints.
