FineLine CX Controller Card | Ordering Information | Return to Graphic Version
The QMS JetScript controller was originally designed to bring 300 dpi PostScript printing to the HP LaserJet series II. It is a full-length (13-inch) host-based controller (resident in the computer), connected to the print engine by a special video cable, and to a video I/O card inserted into the Optional I/O slot in the printer.
For more detailed information and specifications, see the JetScript-CX page in the CX Catalog.
The JetScript Controller can be used with the following CX, SX, RX, and TX printers:
CX printers:
Apple LaserWriter and LaserWriter Plus (with conversion)
HP LaserJet and LaserJet Plus (with conversion)
SX, RX and TX printers:
Canon LBP-RX and LBP-TX VDO OEM
Canon LBP-8II, LBP8IIT and LBP-8IIR
Canon LBP-8 Mark III, LBP-8 Mark IIIT, LBP-8 Mark IIIR
The Printer Works sells kits containing everything needed to complete the JetScript Controller upgrades.

The PrinterWorks FineLine controller is a host-based controller (resident in the computer), connected to the print engine by a proprietary video cable. It works with 386-, 486-, or Pentium (586)-based computers using the computer's CPU & RAM and Windows' GDI (Graphical Device Interface) video driver to provide fast 300 dpi or 600 dpi output.
The FineLine is so similar to the PS-600 controller made by DP-TEK that most drivers written for the PS-600 will work with the FineLine, too. The Printer Works FineLine is calibrated and tailored for the Canon CX and SX video engines.
The main reasons to upgrade to a FineLine controller are faster printing of text and graphics, vastly improved print quality for both scanned images and small type, and the ability to use the many low-cost TrueType fonts that come bundled with Windows and the applications developed for it. It is also faster than traditional resident controllers or host-based controllers such as the QMS JetScript.
The FineLine is not a PostScript printer. It is therefore not capable of printing Encapsulated PostScript format (EPS or EPSF) graphics, but will, instead, print the attached preview. The FineLine controller works with Windows NT and Windows 95.
For more detailed information and specifications, see the FineLine-CX page in the CX Catalog.
